Lewis "Louis" Thurman, 78, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born March 10, 1938 in Evansville, to the late Lewis, Sr. and Thelma (Biddle) Thurman.
He worked for the EVSC for 35 years, filling many positions. He also worked at New Harmony State Park and was a member of the civil defense. After retirement, he worked for the Parks Department, was a volunteer Vanderburgh County Reserve Deputy, and was a member of the Owls. He loved camping and traveling with his wife.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Betty Thurman; daughters, Patricia (David) Kenney and Yvonne (Woody) Woodard; grandchildren, April Woodard, Lori Kenney (Chad Swindell), Ben (Audrey) Woodard and Jeff Kenney; great-grandchildren, Dylan Woodard, Katye Moore, Braxtyn Woodard, Brayden Woodard, Olyvia Moore, Addison Moore, Peyton Swindell and Cayden Swindell; brothers, David (Linda) Thurman and Lowell (Hildy) Thurman; half-brother, Richard Martin; half-sister, Donna Martin, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit 4:00PM to 8:00PM, Monday, November 21, 2016, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road.
